RYA Shore Based Courses
From 2025 Morning Star Trust will be offering a number of RYA certified Shorebased courses.
RYA Essential Navigation and Seamanship 2
This RYA course provides an introduction to navigation and safety for anyone new to boating: sailors, powerboaters, sea anglers, divers and boatmasters. It is also useful for experienced dinghy and keelboat sailors and inshore racers.
RYA First Aid Course 1
The RYA First Aid course covers all the usual first aid subjects, but from a boating perspective. It is aimed at anyone who goes afloat, whether on inland waters, rivers, estuaries or on cross channel passages. A little first aid knowledge and immediate action can save lives, especially in remote locations. This is a one-day course designed to provide a working knowledge of first aid for people using small craft and to support their skippers in emergencies.
The course is MCA and HSE approved and satisfies the requirements for Coastal Skipper Yachtmaster and Advanced Powerboat certificates of competence and some commercial work afloat. The course includes lunch, the RYA First Aid pack and your certificate.
RYA Marine Radio SRC Course and Exam 2
A course and exam for anyone who owns a fixed or handheld marine VHF radio. A radio is an important piece of safety equipment on board and it is vital to understand the correct procedures. The Short Range Certificate is the minimum qualification required by law to control the operation of VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) equipment on any British flagged vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio either fixed or hand held.
